Virtual Data Protection Officer

Comply With Privacy Laws

In 2018, the European Union put into effect their General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a wide ranging law that covered any interactions with data regarding EU citizens.  Because it covered all online interactions, even website visits, many US companies were required to comply. Even for those not affected by the GDPR, California passed a very similar law in 2019, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), to protect its residents’ personal information.  So anyone doing business in California has to comply with the act. This moved most US companies doing business outside of their local area to seriously consider implementing privacy programs to comply with these and other similar regulations from other states. Both the GDPR and the CCPA require that privacy programs be overseen by a member of senior leadership, usually a Data Privacy Officer (DPO).  Unfortunately, this expertise is hard to find and it’s expensive to hire a full time person, especially if your requirements under these laws are required but not extensive.

UniSec’s virtual Data Privacy Officer  (v-DPO) will meet the requirements of this role, setting up initial programs and performing all the duties of a full time Privacy Officer.  The v-DPO will help small and medium sized organizations meet privacy compliance requirements and demonstrate that compliance for sales and marketing purposes.   Your company can have a fully compliant Privacy program that meets all requirements without investing in yet another high level full time officer position.
